November 2011

O November, Matthew's favorite time of the year. College football, his birthday, warm cozy fires, turkey & pumpkin pie might be the reasons it is his favorite. We had a visit from our favorite people the Brownies and enjoyed some special time with them. We went on a field trip to the Wild Horse Sanctuary in Shingletown. Chesnie is in love with horses right now and keeps telling us she is ready to move so that we can get land so she can have a horse. There were 1,000 horses and she picked out the one she wanted. Family came up to celebrate Matthew's birthday. They also allowed Matthew and I to get away for a night. We spent the night in Dunsmuir at the Railroad Park Resort, visited Mt. Shasta and then saw a college football game in Weed. It was a great time together honoring Matthew. We went to Whiskeytown to see the spawning Kokanee Salmon. We saw them, saw eggs, found treasures and fished. It was a great science field trip and this is what we love about home schooling. My sister, brother in law and daughter were in town for Thanksgiving and we all went to San Francisco. We enjoyed a go kart tour of the city and saw parts of the city we had never seen. The best part of November was that Matthew interviewed for a teaching job on his birthday and found out a few weeks later that he got the job! We have waited 6 long years for an answer to our prayer and God couldn't have answered it in a better way. He is teaching at the girls school (we home school through a charter school). We get to see him on Wednesdays when the girls take classes and have lunch with him. We couldn't be more pleased.

Favorite Mattieisms

When taking her to her first Choir practice, "But I don't know what instrument I want to play."
"Chesnie, maybe you love John the Baptist?"
"I am ilarious" (hilarious)
When asked if she wanted another brother or sister, "Not really but I only like sisters, they are better."
She calls a trampoline a jumpoline.
After eating soup, "All that I have left is soup juice."
After we took our Christmas decorations down Mattie asked, "Do we have to take our tree back now?"
While watching TV-"This isn't the show, this is a commotion (aka commercial)."
"I want a turn to be the mom"
When passing a McDonald's sign she says, "M for Mattie!"
"I married Jesus"

Favorite Chesnieisms

"How big is Jesus?" Me: As big as the whole world. "That can't be. Then He would be fat and round like a ball."
"I wish I could fly but God made me a person."
She asks Matthew and me, "Do you guys cuddle like a sandwhich in bed?"
"I have been waiting my whole life for this zucchini!" (age 5)
"My fur sticks up when I am cold."
"My teeth are snapping together." (She is cold and her teeth are chattering.)
"My nose gets as hot and minty as this toothpaste when I brush my teeth."
"I like being 5 better than 4 cuz I'm so much older."
"The devil made weeds and he just keeps making them!"
"I wish that mosquitos would fly to hell and bite the devil so then he would die."
"Mom, please let me do whatever I want." She is four!
"My nose is miserable."
"I am going to miss you and mom when you die. Matthew asks if she will remember us and Ches says, "Well I will need to have a picture to remember."
Matthew is putting Chesnie to bed and she says, "Dad I like it when you lay with me because when you leave then my pillow smells like you."
"Why do geese poop?" Matthew says, "We all poop, everyone poops." Ches responds, "I don't think Jesus poops."
As she is on the potty going poop and Mattie is watching, "Watch out Mattie! Move back, you might get splashed!"
In the middle of the night, "I don't like this cough. Where did I get it? I want it to go away."
When asked if she wanted mommy to have another baby, "No, I want to be the baby."
"My hair is crazy, how does my hair get crazy?"
"I want to get married with my binkie."
"Mom, I want to fly. You need to buy some wings so that I can fly."
"Now you need to listen to your heart. It's speaking." I asked her what it was saying and she said, "It's saying thump, thump."
Ches was talking to herself at the dinner table and Matthew asked who she was talking to. "I am talking to Jesus."
After taking down our Christmas tree Ches says, "Can we go to Mt. Lassen tomorrow and get another tree?"
We tried for one night to take Chesnie's binkie away from her. We didn't get any sleep so we gave it back to her. She said, "It wasn't nice that you and mommy took my binkie away, it wasn't nice."
"I want long hair like Pocahantas"
"Something scares me, I think it was a storm."
She calls a flashlight-flashnight
"I want to kiss a boy"
